February 12-18 Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riders Association Cedar Lake Work Week.  The park will still be closed. However, they are allowing OETRA members to come in early to work.  Arrive on Tuesday afternoon. Work will begin Wednesday. I would not advise arriving early. Free camping will be the duration of these specific dates. They will have us camp in a certain area that projects have been completed. We will work on the ground on Trail 4 crossing (again) adding more concrete bags and also on the steep Trail 1 outside of camp. Pruning and marking trails will be a priority as well. March 7 OSU Horse Owner's Workshop (HOW) at the Charles and Linda Cline Equine Teaching Center, Stillwater, OK Presented by OSU Animal Science Department and OSU College of Veterinary Medicine.  Topics will include end of life decisions, medical handling for owners, equine genetic disorders and more.  The morning sessions will include lectures with hands on activities in the afternoon. The Horse Owner’s Workshops are intended to benefit the average horse owner by providing quality information on equine health, farm management and safety. May 16 Annual Woolaroc Trail Ride, Woolaroc Ranch, Bartlesville, OK. The country retreat of oilman Frank Phillips - Woolaroc is hidden away in the beauty of the rolling Osage Hills. The trail ride covers approximately 15 miles of terrain that is rarely if ever, seen by the general public. Nothing would have pleased Mr. Phillips more than to have known that riders were enjoying his ranch doing something he loved to do... ride. It is common to see buffalo, elk, deer and longhorn cattle along the trails of Woolaroc. Arrival and check-in time 7 - 9 am. Riders must supply their own horse and gear.
